One thing that I tell, well, pretty much everybody that always...disappoints me about the Catholic Church in Britain is that...well, there never seems to be anything happening for young people. And when there is it's always few and far between. It's a shame really, an oppurtunity lost. And I think the reason it has always irritated me a bit is because when I look at my friend Faith's baptist church (and other churches in the area) the always have tons of stuff organised, things to suit lots of different tastes...it just seemed as though they put a lot more effort in...and I guess that made me a bit jealous.
It's for any and all Catholics aged between 18 and 35 living in and around Crawley, Horsham, East Grinstead, Reigate and Redhill. (Just a small area to start off with ;-P) Since it's a very new thing and none of us want it to be 'labelled' with a particular emphasis or ministry just yet (as it greatly depends on who comes along) we have a very cunning plan for the time being. On the second and fourth Sundays of each month we all got to an evening Mass at either The Friary in Crawley or St. Joseph's in Redhill and afterwards we all go down the pub. (It's a very cunning plan this...no one seems to have complained thus far.) As Jack said it's a very good way to meet other Catholics in the area, socialise, make new friends and share your faith all in the space of one evening! I think it's brilliant and it's something that most people are quite happy to do, and there's no pressure to sign up to or join anything. Reckon it'll take a couple of weeks but will end up proving rather popular.
If you or anyone you know would fancy coming along to one of these evenings we already have a Facebook group (well what else would you have?) which can be found here (or by simply searching for Catholic Young Adults' Group if the link doesn't work.) Come on, you know it'll be brilliant!!
