München

So despite having an...interesting journey home I had an absolutely fantabulous time in Munich! We arrived to a very, very cold city but as we got into the hauptbahnhof it was starting to snow and it made the streets (which were beautifully decorated with lights) seem very magical and christmassy.

As you'd expect we did loads of shopping in the various Christmas markets dotted about the city. Think my best buy (apart from the odd drink of Gluhwein ;-D) was my brand new fluffy bag with a sheep on the front of it!!!! Tis a-ma-zing! (I'm sure they'll be a pic on here before long...with me in my fluffy hat too! You certainly won't lose me in a crowd.) But regardless of what we did and didn't get it was great just to wander around and soak up the atmosphere. And the people there were all so lovely and friendly and helpful too (even though my German is currently worse than rusty.) You really couldn't as for a more tourist-friendly city actually (even some of the underground and overground trains have the announcements in english for those who don't do Deutsch.)

Although there was one thing in Munich that...well...scared me a little. Wasn't my poor language skills, wasn't getting mildly lost on the way to the hotel (twice)...wasn't the ice everywhere that made staying upright more art than science...it was...the singing moose...reindeer...moose...thing...

  1. Seriously scary... and I thought the singing dwarfy things in Swan Walk were frightening enough. (They come to life at night and stomp around cackling, you can't convince me otherwise. Thankfully I think the doors of Swan Walk get locked overnight.)

Glad to see you made it home despite snowbound airports etc! Welcome back to Blighty.
