What should I do with a Saturday afternoon off work?

It's been a very long, stressful and arduous week. I mean I've had to work a whole three-and-a-half days! How do I cope with a life as difficult as this eh? And it was soooooooooooooo nice yesterday when I waltzed (well, skipped) out of the shop at a glorious 1pm...singing, "So long! Farewell! Auf widersehen! Goodbye!" (everyone was just loving me I can tell you) to get ready for my long awaited trip to the Royal Albert Hall.

We went up early for dinner and what-not but because our train wasn't running stupidly late (I know! Miracles really do happen!) I persuaded Faith to come with me to Westminster Cathedral (is it naughty of me to drag a Baptist into a Catholic Cathedral?) I really do love it in there. Tend to go up lots when we finish college early. Thinking about it it's probably one of my favourite places. All the different side chapels are just beautiful with all the artwork and mosaics and the altar always looks spectacular. And when we went in yesterday the choir were rehearsing (and they're really good.) Took Faith to the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament which is simply wonderful.  Bless her, she's ever so patient with me!

The Proms last night were brilliant too. I was shocked at work yesterday morning to find out how few of my colleagues had even heard of the most famous classical music event in the entire world. Called them a bunch of uncultured cave people. (I love them really...really I do!) Faith and I got all excited (shock horror) as we got close to the Hall, had to stop and take a pic...and email it to loads of people...well I had to share my excitement with someone! Anyway...back to the concert...it was the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain playing Dukas' The Sorcerer's Apprentice something in the middle which I was less than keen on and have therefore forgotten the name of (it was serialist...*shudders*) and Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique. Apart from that middle piece the whole thing was fantasmagorical! (Yes, that is from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.) I love youth orchestras, they're always so excited to simply be in places like the Albert Hall and they always play their socks off. The atmosphere was electric. Lots of proud parents in the audience too. And there were six bassoons! Six! And two of them had contras! I love contras! That lovely deep, rumbling tone. Gawjus! It all made me homesick for Frankie (my bassoon.) Need to start playing in a band again...

One prom down, two more to go!
