Less than three weeks to go!

There comes a point in every calendar year when I, probably like most other sane people, get sick and tired of being in Horsham. I mean I live here, I work here, I go out on a Saturday night here, it's all I ever see. It's a nice enough place I guess but when you factor in I've lived here twenty-one years (joy of everlasting joy) you can see why I get tired of it. So it's probably a good thing that in less than three weeks from today I will be (barring volcanic activity) out of the country. YAY!

I may have the pain of exams on Monday 24th May but on the Tuesday I will be on a nice, cramped Sl-Easy Jet plane to Rome. Can't wait, tis gonna be great. I have been to Rome twice before now but that doesn't mean it's any less exciting! Besides I'm going to be looking at everything through 'new eyes' so-to-speak. The first time we went I was...twelve I think and stomped round all the churches and the Vatican museum bored out of my teeny-tiny little pea brain. Second time I was fouteenish and was a bit better; viewed everything with a keen historical eye but no more than that. And this time all of it's going to be nice and shiny and new as I see it through the eyes of a Christian. More or less planned everything I'm going to do. Even got myself tickets to the General Audience while I'm there. Of course I'm going back to the Roman Forum and the Pantheon and so on, when we last went it was August and blisteringly hot (I'm not fun in high temperatures - very moody...bite-your-head-off-for-breathing moody) so there was only so much I could take before I turned into a puddle. And there's the ice cream...mmm...ice cream...

I'm going to rattle on about this for a while I'm afraid...but I don't care becuase I'm going on holiday to Rome! WOO!
